The Royal Goat Hotel, a historic property in Beddgelert, North Wales, has been sold to Grant Kangley and family. The Grade II listed hotel, built in 1802, boasts 32 bedrooms and various amenities, and the previous owners, David and Valerie Cattrall, expressed their excitement for the hotel’s future renovations under new ownership. The sale, facilitated by Tom O’Malley from Christie and Co, generated significant buyer interest.

IHG Hotels and Resorts reported a 2.6% increase in global Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) in the first quarter, with EMEAA leading with an 8.9% rise. Despite a flat performance in the Americas due to calendar timing, Greater China showed growth. IHG opened over 6,200 rooms across 46 hotels and signed nearly 18,000 rooms across 129 properties in Q1. CEO Elie Maalouf emphasised the group’s efficiency and future prospects.

Ruby Hotels transitioned to a 35-hour workweek across its European locations, resulting in positive feedback from 76% of employees. Staff reported increased happiness, energy, and work-life balance, with more time for leisure activities. Despite this success, employees expressed a desire for a four-day workweek, prompting ongoing adjustments by Ruby’s leadership.

Tewkesbury Park, rescued from administration by the McIntosh family in 2014, celebrated a decade of successful transformation. The property underwent comprehensive renovations, including adding historic suites, enhancing wellness facilities, and upgrading the Mint restaurant. The McIntosh family’s dedication to sustainability is evident in their energy production revamp. General Manager Patrick Jones credited the team’s hard work and the family’s vision for the property’s continued success.
